DURATION : 3 Year (6 Semeters)
ELIGIBILITY :
The P.G. Course in Fisheries through Distance Education mode shall be open to
employed and other candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree of 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University with the following combinations :
1. Botany + Zoology + Industrial Fish & Fisheries (or other combinations with
Industrial Fish & Fisheries as approved by the University of Jammu).
2. Botany + Zoology + Chemistry
3. B.V.Sc.
4. B.F.Sc.
5. B.Sc. Agriculture.
The students who have passed B.Sc. with Industrial Fish & Fisheries as one of
the subjects or have done B.F.Sc. with not less than 50% marks shall be considered for admission first. Thereafter if seats remain vacant, candidates who have passed qualifying examination with other combination and have secured more than 60% marks shall be considered. If seats still remain vacant, the candidates with less than 50% marks shall also be considered for admission.
ENROLMENT
The number of seats in the P.G. course in Fisheries shall be 25. The distribution of
seats for admission shall be as under :-
a) 12 seats shall be reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from the University of Jammu.
b) 12 seats shall be filled by candidates from all over India on merit basis.
c) One seat shall be reserved for in-service candidates or candidates sponsored by Govt.Dept./NGO’S/Industrial Houses associated with Fish and Fisheries Products.
Note: - In case no candidate is recommended in category (C) the same shall be filled from open merit category (b).
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ALONGWITH THE ADMISSION FORM
1. Three attested photo copies of Bachelor’s Degree and Marks Certificates of Part-I, II and III.
2. Three attested photo copies of the Matriculation Diploma or equivalent examination.
3. Three attested photo copies of the Degree/Certificate of the last examination passed/ Provisional Certificate.
4. Migration Certificate for candidates having passed last examination from a University other than theUniveristy of Jammu .
5. A Crossed Demand Draft of requisite fees drawn in favour of the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, payable at Jammu.
6. Character certificate issued by a Gazetted officer.
REFUND OF FEE
1. If an applicant is not enrolled because he/she has not submitted the required
certificates by the last date notified for the purpose or has submitted fake or forged documents, his/her fee shall not be refunded.
2. If a candidate is found ineligible, the fee paid by him/her shall be refunded after deduction of Rs. 100/- to cover remittance and other charges.
3. Fees will not be refunded once a candidate has been admitted/selected for the
course.
INSTRUCTIONAL MODES
The instructional method in Distance Education is essentially based on the supply of self-learning materials for home study duly supported by assignments, Personal Contact Programmes, Library facilities, extension lectures etc.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONS
Instructional methods in Distance Education shall essentially be based on the supply of course materials for home study, supported by the written assignments, personal contact programme, library facilities, audio-visual aids, radio broadcasts, extension lectures etc.
PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME
As a part of imparting education through distance mode, the Directorate will hold one contact programme (both for theory & practicals) in each semester of the duration of 30days. The contact programme will be compulsory. Classes will be organized at the campus of University of Jammu. A candidate, who on account of compelling circumstances fails to complete all the prescribed components of the course (assignment etc.) during the academic year of enrolment, may be allowed by the Director, DDE to complete the course in the following academic session alongwith the students of that session on payment of the prescribed fee of Rs. 500/ - only.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
Sessional assessment in theory and laboratory courses (except dissertation) shall be awarded at the end of each semester.
(A) Theory courses Sessional assessment in each theory course shall be based on assignments/test of 20 marks in a 4 credit course and 10 marks in 2 credit course.
(B) Laboratory courses Sessional assessment in each laboratory course shall be based on daily performance attendance and a test and distribution of marks in each component shall be in the manner detailed below.

The distribution of marks for attendance shall be in accordance to the following scheme:
ATTENDANCE MARKS
a) Below 75% of the total number of attendances Zero
b) From 75% to 80% of the total number of attendances 40%
c) Above 80% to 85% of the total number of attendances 60%
d) Above 85% to 90% of the total number of attendances 80%
e) Above 90% of the total number of attendances 100%
