DURATION : 2 Year (4 Semesters)
ELIGIBILITY :
A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with Persian or Arabic as an elective subject or has passed the said examination after having passed the Honours examination in Urdu, Persian or Arabic in the Faculty of Oriental Learning shall also be eligible for admission to M.A. Urdu course, at par with those who have passed the qualifying examination with Urdu as an elective subject at the under-graduate level (10+2+3).
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ALONGWITH THE ADMISSION FORM
1. Three attested photo copies of B.A. Degree and Marks Certificates of Part-I, II & III
2. Three attested photo copies of the Certificate of matriculation diploma or equivalent examination showing date of birth.
3. Three attested photo copies of the Degree/Certificate of the last examination passed / provisional certificate in orginal.
4. Migration Certificate for candidates having passed last examination from a University other than the University of Jammu.
5. A Crossed Demand Draft of requisite fee drawn in favour of the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, Payable at Jammu.
6. Character certificate issued by the Gazetted officer.
7. Gap affidavit if required .
MODE OF INSTRUCTIONS
The syllabi and courses of study for the Post Graduate Course in Urdu through Distance Education shall be the same as may be prescribed from time to time for the students of the regular course of the Post-Graduate Department of Urdu, University of Jammu. The instructional method in Distance Education is essentially based on supply of course material for home study supported by student’s assignments, Personal Contact Programme, library facilities, counselling, extension lectures etc.
PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME (PCP)
In order to provide opportunity for face-to-face interaction between the teacher and the students, the Directorate will organize Personal Contact Programme (optional) for 15 days in each course, per semester. During the PCP, the candidates will have the facilities of classroom lectures and personal guidance with regard to their academic difficulties from the different subject experts. PCP shall be conducted at Jammu only.
A candidate, who on account of compelling circumstances fails to complete all the prescribed components of the course (assignments etc.) during the academic year of enrolment, may be allowed by the Director, DDE to complete the course in the following academic session alongwith the students of that session on payment of the prescribed fee of Rs. 500/- only or as may be approved by the university from time to time.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
The Post Graduate Course in Urdu through distance education shall also have the system of internal assessment as is applicable in the case of the regular students of M.A. Urdu Course. Internal assessment shall carry 20 percent of marks in each course/paper. The components of internal assessment in every course/paper will be as follows: -
(i) Two Assignments in each course, one comprising of short questions (each of 100 words) comprising atleast one question from each unit of the course and second assignment of one long question of 500 to 600 words.
(ii) Each Assignment shall be of 10 marks.
ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR IN THE EXAMINATION
A student admitted to the P.G. Course in Urdu through Distance Education shall be eligible to appear in the examination if he/she:
(i) has submitted all the prescribed assignments.
(ii) obtained atleast 36 per cent of the maximum marks allotted to the internal assessment in each theory paper.
AWARD OF DEGREE
The statutes governing the examination of the regular P.G. Course in Urdu shall also apply to the students of the M.A. Urdu Course through Distance Education. Accordingly, the successful candidates of the M.A. Urdu Course through Distance Education shall be awarded the same Degree as is awarded to the successful candidates of the P.G. Department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. Any matter not covered by the provisions of the prospectus shall be governed under the statutes prescribed for regular M.A. Urdu Course of the University of Jammu.
2. Mere acceptance of application form and fee in the Directorate shall not amount to the selection of the candidate for the course.
3. All legal disputes relating to the M.A. Course in Urdu through Distance Education shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Jammu courts only.
4. All enquiries pertaining to examination are to be made from the Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu, New Campus, Jammu.

REFUND OF FEE
1. If an applicant is not enrolled because he/she has not submitted the required certificates by the last date notified for the purpose or has submitted fake or forged documents, his/her fee shall not be refunded.
2. If a candidate is found ineligible, the fee paid by him/her shall be refunded after deduction of Rs. 100/- to cover remittance and other charges.
3. Fees will not be refunded once a candidate has been admitted/selected for the course.
