DURATION: 2 year ( 4 Semesters)
ELIGIBILITY: Those who have passed the qualifying examination with Hindi as elective subject at the under graduate level (10+2+3). B.A. (General) Examination (10+2+3 pattern) with Sanskrit as a subject or B.A. (General) examination (10+2+3 pattern) after having passed the (Hons.) examination in Hindi or Sanskrit in the Faculty of Oriental Learning.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ALONGWITH THE
ADMISSION FORM
1. Three attested photo copies of Bachelor’s Degree and Marks Certificates of Part- I, II and III.
2. Three attested photo copies of the Matriculation Diploma or equivalent examination.
3. Three attested photo copies of the Degree/Certificate of the last examination passed/ Provisional Certificate (original).
4. Migration Certificate (original) for candidates having passed last examination from a University other than the University of Jammu.
5. A Crossed Demand Draft of requisite fees drawn in favour of the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, Payable at Jammu.
6. Character certificate issued by a Gazetted officer.
7. Gap affidavit if required.
REFUND OF FEE
1. If an applicant is not enrolled because he/she has not submitted the required certificates by the last date notified for the purpose or has submitted fake or forged documents, his/her fee shall not be refunded.
2. If a candidate is found ineligible, the fee paid by him/her shall be refunded after deduction of Rs. 100/- to cover remittance and other charges.
3. Fees will not be refunded once a candidate has been admitted/selected for the course.

INSTRUCTIONAL MODES
The instructional method in Distance Education is essentially based on the supply of self-learning materials for home study duly supported by assignments, Personal Contact Programmes, Library facilities, extension lectures etc.
PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME (PCP)
In order to provide opportunity for face-to-face interaction between the teacher and the students, the Directorate will organize optional Personal Contact Programme for 20 days in each course, per semester. During the PCP, the candidates will have the facilities of classroom lectures and personal guidance with regard to their academic difficulties. PCP shall be conducted at Jammu only.
A candidate, who on account of compelling circumstances fails to complete all the prescribed components of the course (assignment etc.) during the academic year of enrolment, may be allowed by the Director, DDE to complete the course in the following academic session alongwith the students of that session on payment of the prescribed fee of Rs. 500/- only.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT
The Internal Assessment shall carry 20% of marks in each course. The components of Internal Assessment shall be two assignments of 10 marks each in 4 credit course. In 2 credit course there shall be only one assignment of 10 marks. The assignments should be submitted in due course of time. No assignment shall be accepted after the last date fixed for the purpose. Any candidate who fails to submit the assignment shall not be eligible to appear in the examination.
Note :
1. To seek admission in IIIrd semester of P.G. Hindi course, a candidate should have passed 50% of credits in the Ist semester and he/she should have passed in internal assessment of all courses/papers in IInd semester.
